Middot
Middot are the Jewish values that are central to living a Jewish life. They teach us the best ways to interact with others, with G-d and with ourselves. Middot are the “how to's” of living a Jewish life. Each person has a spark of G-d within himself or herself. When we live by middot, we elevate that spark within us.
Each grade will be receiving a different set of Middot to study this year (see list at the end for more details). As they study them, they will be rewarded with a “how-to” plan for living Jewishly.
The Middot are taught as follows:
Aleph - Observing the Shabbat, Charity and Loving One’s Neighbor
Bet - Keeping the Environment, Honoring thy Parents and Kindness to Animals
Gimmel - Humility, Embarrassment, Gossip and Generosity
Daled - Hospitality, Esteeming the Elderly, Respect of Others, And Keeping Commitments
