From Social Action

Social Action Committee is participating in the Adopt a Platoon Soldier Support Effort. Regardless of your political affiliation, we feel that our soldiers need and greatly appreciate our support. We have adopted a platoon of 12 male soldiers stationed in Iraq. We would like to send them travel size wipes, hand sanitizer wipes, snacking foods, toiletries, etc. For a list of needed items please go to  www.adoptaplatoon.org and then go to "care package ideas".  If you would like to donate any items please bring them to the Temple Office. With your assistance we hope to mail out several packages each month. If you have any questions, please call Esther or Mel Zirkes.

AIPAC

Paul McCartney to Perform in Israel

Forty-three years after the Israeli government prevented the Beatles from playing a concert in the Jewish state, the most famous (living) Beatle of them all, Sir Paul McCartney, will perform in Israel, the Israeli Web site Ynet reported. As part of a major world tour this summer, McCartney is scheduled to play one night in September, in either Tel Aviv or Ramat Gan. Israel, which has always had a vibrant cultural and artistic scene of its own, has become an increasingly popular venue for major international artists. Hip-hop stars Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu have both visited Israel, as has British singer Phil Collins. World-renowned rapper Snoop Dogg and rock band Metallica are both slated to perform in Israel this September.

Our synagogue partners with AIPAC, America's pro-Israel lobby, in educating our community on issues affecting the U.S.-Israel relationship.  We encourage you to learn more by contacting AIPAC at (202) 639-5200 or by visiting www.aipac.org.
Save up to $3,000 per family.
Thinking of going to Israel with Rabbi and Karen Spector?  Thanks to the generosity of the Leff Memorial Fund, any member under the age of 35 can receive $1,000 towards the trip, up to a maximum of $3,000 per family.
